Perception makes your slender body arrive sooner

It has been said that your past does not equal the future…

what matters is continued persistence and commitment to keep going even when there has been failure before. Where would we be if Edison did not continue after the 13th, 100th, 957th attempt at creating a light bulb? Edison has been quoted as saying “ I didn’t fail 1000 times. The light bulb was an invention with 1000 steps”.

It’s a pretty obvious one, there are times I’m sure in your life when you feel you are ready in your mind; yet for some reason it just doesn’t happen in real life. You have attempted to lose those 5 kilos, change your eating habits to be healthier, go on a date with someone, travel on your own and it all fell to crap. You gained two kilos, you changed for a few weeks then went back to unhealthy habits, the date didn’t show, or you chickened out that the last minute and went travelling with a friend. These may be seen as failures or could be seen as steps toward an outcome for something you have always wanted to do.

I’m here to share with you that in order to succeed where you have failed before requires a shift in YOUR PERCEPTION. The definition of a miracle from A Course in Miracles begins with a shift in perception. Perception is the ability to see, hear or become aware of something through the senses. Perception filters every experience we have, just let that sink in for a moment. It influences expectations, definitions, even your identity. I’ll invite you to think for a moment, what is your perception of success?

One definition of success is of checking in where you are versus where you perceive you should be. And core tip – where you are is dynamic, it changes based on your experiences, feelings, support, belief and skills.

Please be kind to yourself; most of us who find they want something and have failed before have not been taught how to attain what it is we really desire. For most of us, it is and does come down to trial and error. If you do want something it is totally possible for you to attract and magnetise it to you.

If you want to be super slender where you have failed before the first step is drumroll…. changing your perception in one or more areas of your health and body, below are tried and test tips to ensuring you succeed where you have failed.

 

Firstly define success for you now

Not what you thought it was or what your mum, best friend or even colleague believe it is, success comes from defining it for yourself. For a client who I have been working with it was really about defining the lifestyle she wanted and from there her ideal body shape came next and she was able to move toward a more informed and fun journey to what she yearned for.

 

It’s about continuing not starting again

A mentor of mine said when I was on my own journey of discovering my ideal body size, every time you ‘start’ again, you aren’t, you are CONTINUING. It’s the same as if you are going on a road trip or holiday and you have stop overs, at each stop over or detour, you don’t say to yourself “oh dear, I’m starting my holiday”, you probably say “let’s keep going onto the next place”. It gives you the ability to pick up where you left off and giving yourself permission to give it another go.

 

Think about what you need before you continue

Ask yourself the question how could I feel different about not getting my result before? this my be a tad confronting yet is totally worth the exploration and uncomfyness that may come as a result of pointing that good ol’ magnifying glass at the things you’d rather forget.
By answering these questions it’ll help to ensure that you can learn from any detours you had previously.

 

Forgive yourself and be kind to you

There really is no greater act of self love than to let go and forgive you for what you have or have not done in the past. Forgiveness is is letting go of any thoughts, beliefs, feelings that don’t serve you. It is important to realise that there are no mistakes either, only course correcting. Once you own this realisation it helps to make continuing a little easier.

A simple process to forgive yourself is to create some quiet space where you will not be disturbed and say out loud preferably in the mirror “Please forgive me (your name) for (what you have done) and know that I am doing my best in each moment to learn to love you deeper”. I invite you to do this for daily for 7 days and feel the results.

An example from my own life was “Please forgive me Shaylin for judging you when you weren’t the size I believed you should be after going on another diet, know that I am doing my best in each moment to learn to love you deeper”.

Core tip – is that repeat the forgiveness process until you really feel it and believe it.

 

Give yourself permission to just be

Permission is one of those words that women and young girls shy away from that I’ve worked with or come across in my life including myself. As women we have been conditioned to ask others for permission to exist and be, based on the history of how women have been treated and perceived in the last two or more millennia.

Be kind to you, you were not taught how to give yourself permission to shine, radiate, receive, attract, yearn, feel pleasure, desire, say NO and mean it, say YES and mean it. So this step is about giving you permission to attempt again regardless of the outcome, to love yourself through the journey and give yourself 100% commitment to follow through, whatever that means

 

Get the support you need

As modern women, myself included, we have this notion about doing it all ourselves, yet if you are at essence a feminine woman you love connection and sharing, so to think that we are able to do it all on our own is ludicrous. We primally are designed to live in community to be part of something bigger than ourselves, to share and commune. This was also a big realisation that I forgave myself for, to know that I needed to let others in and ask for help.
