How my “feeling fat experiment” will benefit you

I felt intuitively to give you the alert because this is a light-hearted and poking fun at myself experiment. So enjoy.

Please read this and know it comes from a place of love, laughter and cheekiness. It is an opportunity for you to let go of the serious nature that can sometimes come with weight loss and body image.

I’m usually a healthy person and have a fit lifestyle.

Going to the gym regularly, eating plant based foods and eating smaller portions, drinking water daily.

Yet I’ve been displaying what I’d call unhealthy behaviour for the past 2 weeks.

Rather than resisting what was going on, I decided to flow with it and start for a 7 day period, my ‘feeling fat experiment’ using myself as a guinea pig and sharing the results with you. The results will surprise you. To find out how the results will help you get comfortable in your skin head to the blog now.

You may be wondering what is a “feeling fat” experiment. The experiment is this simple
1. do all the things that are unhealthy
2. don’t do the things that are healthy. That’s it!

**The caveat – I did this for a specific period of time for my own research. I don’t recommend taking this on as a lifestyle for a prolonged period of time.

Before I dive into my results, I’ll share with you the do’s and don’t of the experiment. Here we go:

Do’s

• Always eat after dinner, the sweeter the snack the better, the later the better – the record was 11.05pm
• Do stay at home instead of exercise
• Leave a pile of clothes on the wardrobe floors that are too tight
• Wonder when the jiggly bits will magically shift themselves
• Look at celebrity and fitspo pics on instagram and facebook and want to look that fit
• Check out healthy cook books and blogs to look at the pictures, strictly no cooking

Don’t

• Monitor my portion size
• Monitor my intake
• Exercise regularly, even if it is just a walk
• Remember why I want to be fit and healthy
• Remember how much energy I have when I eat healthy most of the time
• No monthly progress photo – I was supposed to take it this week

Here’s the results, you would think that my “feeling fat experiment” would cause

• me to feel bad about myself,
• judge my body
• hate that I am unable to fit into my skinny jeans or even my skinny+ jeans
• not accept where I was at
• feel crap about myself
• have low energy

BUT IT DIDN’T & I’ll tell you why!!!

This is the #1 secret tip to why I actually enjoyed my experiment and that is

I continued to NOURISH my body daily!

I did the following in no particular order with pleasure,
• taking a bath,
• resting when I needed to,
• reading inspirational books
• listening to music I love
• laughing and having fun

All while running a biz, being a parent and a wife.

How do you do it you may ask? Prioritise my nourishment and intend to take time for myself whilst going about my daily life minimum 5 minutes per day.

All these other tips helped me to feel comfortable in my skin and confident even through the “feeling fat experiment” and would help you as well

• Incredibly great relationship with your body
• Deeply accept and loving who you are
• Observing and being aware of your behaviour if not in the moment directly after
• Going inside to listen to your inner spirit
• Defining yourself as more than just your body
• Knowing how to leverage the power of why you want to be healthy
• Being happy within yourself
• Not caring what people think
• Being confident and proud of your body

To me it was a great experiment in realising how far I’ve come on the journey of feeling good in my skin and being confident in my life.
