3 ways to get your new year’s resolutions and have them stick

Hello, a new year ahead and time for reflection, introspection and beginnings. It has been a while since I popped my head out of my cocoon, yet a load of transformation butterfly style has been occurring.

I have had a challenging time of my pregnancy with my second baby girl and then the transition from the birth to newborn and the family unit. I share this with you because these experiences allowed a deepening of clarity around my work has emerged.

I have some exciting new projects that are in development so I will keep you posted.

In the meantime, here are three ways to get your new year’s resolutions and have them stick:

1. Set your intention not your goals

By definition an intention is ‘a thing intended, an aim or a plan’, as opposed to goal ‘the object of a person’s ambition or desired result’. With a plan it gives you flexibility for the actions to move or change, to be dynamic and flow with your current situation. With a goal, it is fixed and in the future, it is concrete and finite, as women it is more often than not easier to work with a fluid and more dynamic energy to bring about and receive that which you want.

2. Make it easy for yourself to succeed

A lot women clients I have helped over the years, see the new year as an opportunity to be hard on themselves for not achieving what they set out to accomplish the previous year. They make it way more difficult and complicated to succeed than they need to. One client I had wanted to find her ideal partner last year, she was disappointed that she still hadn’t found him and was single on new year’s eve, I pointed out to her the action she had taken with putting herself out there on numerous dates and reminded her that one of her closest friends was very ill and passed away. These circumstances contributed to her where she was investing her energy and reminded her to be easy on herself.

3. Choose only one

What is the most important aspect of your life that causes you the most stress and invest your time and efforts into changing just that, the mind space, emotional roller coaster and impact on your body of this one aspect once resolved or accomplished will allow the space and time to move onto another aspect with less stress and more enjoyment.
