3 steps to sensually alive body confidence

Body confidence is improving your perception of your physical self, including thoughts and feelings. These feelings can be positive, negative or both and are influenced by environmental and individual circumstances.

The focus here will be on the environmental influences that impact your body confidence so it is sensually and how to improve it when and if it isn’t where you want it to be.

In environmental factors, how you deal with change or transitions actually impacts your health and body confidence significantly, you’re probably thinking how…let me explain.

The problem is in times of change or transition, stress is usually triggered, partly because on top of your usual life you are being stretched to factor in new skills, locations, life changes or routines; dealing with moving home, a new baby or even a change in job, dealing with a change in life stage, marriage or moving in with a partner, your reaction or conscious response will dramatically affect your feelings and emotions. This has a direct impact on your stress levels, which will influence your body confidence.

Where the challenge is fundamental is how you deal with change in your life especially if it is a way that doesn’t feel good, or causes more stress. The more stressed you get, the tenser you become and when you are tense, it is a contraction which means that you are less likely to let anything new come into your awareness and this continues until you consciously become aware of it.

In addition, in times of uncertainty and change you usually want to reach for something familiar. The problem with this is that the thing that is familiar may not actually be healthy for you; a pack of chocolate biscuits or two, or skipping meals because you are already dealing with too much or eating out constantly or not making time for yourself because you are ‘too busy’, a relationship you know isn’t right for you yet you want to go back because you don’t want to be alone.

Change is in every part of your everyday life and remembering to flow with it helps with be more relaxed, calmer and able to enjoy the process.

So what do you do instead, I hear you ask.

Slow down for a moment and tune into your rhythmic cycles. A rhythmic cycle is a series of events that are regularly repeated in the same order. In your life as a woman you are part of; the cycle of nature, life and death, endings and beginnings, the seasons, your menstrual cycle, your hormonal cycle if you are in menopause, lunar cycle, astrological cycle.

All these cycles influence, shape and impact your experience of life and flowing with them will allow you to be in tune and connected to what is going on for you in the moment, to be able to respond from a loving and conscious place.

I’m sure you know a friend who is a serial dater or dieter it may even be you, it is predictable, you can rely on it.

Cycles allow you to release an attachment to time. Are you in a life cycle right now that you are avoiding, distracting yourself from or wanting to hide from?

So what are you going to begin or end?

 

Here’s the solution, I’ve shared below 3 steps to ensure that you have sensually alive and awakening body confidence starting today. Please remember that every new skill needs practice so the more you do this the more it will become habitual and natural to you.

 

3 steps boost your body confidence (to flow with your cycles)

 

  1. Identify a cycle in your life you are resisting? And why?

Is it due to familial influences that you are resisting or societal expectations?

It could even be your feelings around your menstrual cycle (if you still are in this cyclical stage of your life). It is such a powerful time to go inside and reflect on where you are at, what you want to let go of. The fact that we bleed, yet do not die, is such a magnificent gift.

  1. List out what the 15+ benefits of the current cycle you are in, what is great about this time in your life?
  1. Make space and time for the changing cycles ritual.
  • Take a moment to draw a circle on a piece of A4 paper
  • Walk around this circle and call in any divine guides or the elements to help you
  • Continue to walk around the circle, Ask what you need to let go of to totally embrace this cycle
  • Ask what do I need to give myself to embrace this cycle
  • Then stop walking and close your eyes and visualise the cycle coming over your head like your in the centre of a donut around your body.
  • Breathe the circle which is the cycle into your cells and own this cycle as your own.
  • Take a deep breath and wiggling your fingers and toes come back to here and now.
  • Remember you can use this ritual for any or all cycles in your life at any time.
