3 secrets to eating what’s healthy (that have nothing to do with food)

3 secrets to eating what’s healthy (that have nothing to do with food)

Can you hear the chocolate bunnies and eggs calling? I know they have whispered to me whilst walking through the aisles of the local supermarket.

With Easter upon you, there has been a lot of temptation around to eat and overeat. I’ve shared some secrets with you to get you through the holiday period so you feel healthier and happier (and still able to enjoy some chocolate bunnies and eggs if you want) on the other side.

  1. Anything goes, it’s a free for allFood is not innately good or bad, it is all about choice and impact. The problem is there are literally thousands of diets, eating plans all over the news and media making claims about weight loss, health and decreasing disease. It makes things so confusing and most of these diets spruke that their method works every time.

What should you listen to or what will work for you and your body? How do you know what is best for you? Here’s what I invite you to do instead focus on a plant based diet. You are probably thinking OMG, vegetables really! Yes, you probably know what a  plant-based diet comprises, yet I’ll gently remind you here. It is eating mostly only fruits, vegetables, nuts, beans, whole grains, and meat substitutes like legumes.

There are so many benefits for why eating plant based is great for you and your weight loss, your libido, from the nutrients you absorb, to how it makes you feel to how easy it is to get rid of the toxins and waste. I invite you to trial and experiment being a weekday vegetarian for 7 days and let the effects be your guide.

  2. Where all the (superstar) ladies at…If you have ever been in a place, location or part of a group that was not supportive of who you truly want to be, you will understand the impact of this and how detrimental it can be if you are not being supported in the way you want.

The problem is that most women have been taught to be independent and not to receive help as it can be seen as not being tough. The solution is the be part of the power of community, tribe or circle, a place where you feel accepted, cared for, safe and nourished who are like minded and can support and encourage you to continue to live and be healthier, happier and hotter and answer any questions you have, along the way

  3. Set the to do list up to rock out

The problem is that if one or more of the areas of your life need some serious overhauling, sparking up or any radical changes need to be made quickly these may cause serious stretching for your time and your energy in your world and those around you

Here’s what to do instead, start where you are at, first be honest with yourself. Are you telling yourself you are healthy and then in the evening when all is quiet secretly shoveling chips, chocolate, cake or cookies down your gob?

Please be gentle with this, it is to bring awareness to what your actual (what is really happening) eating habits are as opposed to your desired habits (where you want to be). Then decide on a percentage of eating healthier will it be 50%/50% processed food to plant based foods, 60%/40% or 80%/20%. This may change week to week, yet the intent is to move towards where you want to be, your ‘new normal’.

BONUS TIP:

Give yourself permission to enjoy (not feel guilty or bad after) your easter eggs or bunnies, if you have them. Truly enjoy the taste and flavour.

Leave a comment and let me know how you get on.

Happy Easter
