
I want you to think and feel into who you were 5 years ago, have a think and feel into it. What challenges did you have? What did you dream about? How did you feel about your body?
Now think about yourself today, are you different? What have you learnt since then? Are you wiser in some areas of your life and not in others?
The problem is in the modern world there are plenty of messages that growing older (or as I like to call it wiser) isn’t ok. That looking and feeling youthful, slowing the aging process down is a MUST.
Who decided that was the case, that accepting being older and life (experience) lines meant you were over the hill, past your prime, unattractive?
When did growing wiser and experiencing life not be determined as super sexy?
I have several dear friends whose intimacy, body confidence and enjoyment of life grew exponentially as they got wiser and they are the happiest they have ever been.
There are a few reasons for this; it is about the relationship you have with yourself and what life what lessons you have or have not learnt to assist you in improving and finally enjoying that relationship with yourself, your body and ultimately your life.
There are cultures like the French and Spanish who have a different relationship with women becoming older and it is from these cultures that I ask you to draw inspiration.
Here are 4 steps to support and serve you to rock it at your age right now:
- Becoming your own expert
When you are younger there is an element of finding your own way, navigating your own path and moving on from your authority figures and their influence. No one knows you better than you know yourself, so it is important to know thy self and spend time connecting with you.
- You are dynamic
As you gain in years and experience life you realise what you desire in your life. You may completely change your views on your body, relationships what you find fun or are passionate about. Also what you are willing or unwilling to accept. Know this will happen, sometimes more than you’d like and find ways to deal with this change gracefully.
- Be Brave-Spirited
As you get to know yourself deeper, you may be called by your essence, higher self, brave-spirit to do uncomfortable and sometimes scary things. The realization that how you actually want to live and love is not being experienced now. This realization takes a brave-spirit to embody it, to bring it into your everyday life, to make the shifts and transformation necessary to live and love from this place daily
- Make it up (and be ok with getting it wrong)
Once you decide, are committed and then act from your brave-spirit your life takes on a new meaning of purpose, passion and fulfilment. People’s opinions, judgements and criticism doesn’t matter, you are freer to express your authentic self. There is a spaciousness to living this way. It may not always be the easiest journey, yet it certainly is the most rewarding and fulfilling.
