3 tips to feel more motivated, even if you don’t feel like it

The problem is sometimes feeling motivated can seem like a mountain to high to climb, you really want to be super motivated to get everything done on your to do list yet just could not be bothered. The solution to feeling more motivated is focusing on the feeling. Whether you feel like it or not, whatever you feel is dynamic and can change in an instant.

For example the last few days I have not felt like going to the gym to exercise when last week I went 6 days in the week and it was super easy. So I told myself just get yourself to the gym and then we’ll figure out what to do from there. Make it so easy to do so you want to do it. So it feels great from the even before you start and this will help with being able to move through your lack of motivation in the moment.

So here are 3 tips to help you feel motivated to do what it is you want to, even when you don’t feel like it

  1. Acknowledge your feeling of “I don’t feel like it”

The problem is resisting your lack of motivation will only fuel the fire of your lack of motivation. By acknowledging your lack of motivation it gives you a real place to start from and you then can decide what to do from there. The result will be that you will be doing more of what you want even if there is resistance to it.

  1. Breakdown the experience into doable chunks

The problem is when you think about cooking a healthy meal, going to exercise, meeting new people, it may seem to much in the moment and your lack of motivation wins. The solution is to make the next step toward what you want so doable that you do it easily. For example, if you want to go to the gym, what’s the next step, is it getting changed, or travelling to the gym, or for cooking, is it getting the ingredients out of the fridge or choosing the recipe. Breaking down the experience to doable chunks allows your mind to know that what you want is totally doable and you’ll get out of your own way and do it

  1. Put the emotional crow bar away

The problem is most women are hard on themselves, even heard the term ‘stop beating yourself up (emotionally)’. I really want to get graphic with this as most women will acknowledge they beat themselves up, and not realise the impact that it has on their well-being and motivation.. Most women have a tendancy to be really hard on themselves, through unrealistic expectations, lack of pleasure, lack of nourishment and lack of rest and relaxation. The solution is you deserve and need better. Please put it away, whether it is a crow bar or a hammer, a stick or a fork there are other ways to be with yourself to get things done. Be gentle, loving and nurturing with yourself, attempt this for even just 3 days and notice the difference in the way you move through your day and how motivation seems so easy.

Would love to know how this goes on helping you with being more motivated, leave a comment.
